The Latest Situation of COVID in Mauritius

On the evening of March 26, Mauritian Prime Minister Jugnauth held a press conference, announcing that 81 cases of COVID and 2 deaths were registered.

Mauritius has entered a "state of war" and adopted the most rigorous control measures including national confinement and a curfew order with the complete lockdown of all supermarkets, shops and bakeries till 31 March 2020. Only pharmacies, gas station and ATM remain open. Residents need to have a permit issued by the Commissioner of Police to be outdoors. Penalties and imprisonment will be imposed on those who violate the rules.
