Latest on Covid-19 in Mauritius

1. On January 25, Mauritius recorded 12 new Covid-19 cases with 4 local cases and 8 imported cases. The local cases include one doctor, two nurses from Souillac Hospital and one crew member of Air Mauritius. The above-mentioned four people are all asymptomatic coronavirus carriers, and all their close contacts have been quarantined. Up till now, there are 33 active cases in Mauritius.

2. Recently, the Mauritian government has decided to extend the period of partial border closure from February 15 to March 31. Before February 28, passengers departing from the United Kingdom, South Africa, Japan, or Brazil or transiting in these four countries within 14 days are not allowed to enter Mauritius.

3. On March 26, the Mauritian government officially launched the first vaccination work, which will inoculate a total of 50000 front-line medical staff and police force with AstraZeneca produced by the Serum Institute of India.
