
On May 18, 2026, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning met with Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili in Beijing.
Wang Huning stated that China and Georgia are good friends characterized by sincerity and mutual trust. China is ready to work with Georgia, following the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries as the fundamental guide, to firmly support each other on issues involving each other’s core interests and become partners of mutual respect and mutual trust; to deepen and expand cooperation in both traditional and emerging fields and become partners of mutual benefit and reciprocity; to enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges and become partners of mutual affinity and understanding; and to strengthen multilateral communication and coordination and become partners moving forward in solidarity. The National Committee of the CPPCC is ready to make positive contributions to this end.
Shalva Papuashvili stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and China over 30 years ago, bilateral relations have witnessed tremendous development, with fruitful outcomes in political, economic and people-to-people and cultural cooperation. Georgia firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and is ready to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, enhance the friendly ties between people from all sectors of the two societies, elevate the Georgia-China strategic partnership to a new height, jointly uphold international law, and promote world peace and development.
