Ambassador Sun Gongyi Meets with Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development of Mauritius

On October 30, 2020, Ambassador Sun Gongyi met with Dr. Renganaden Padayachy,Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development of Mauritius. The two sides exchanged views on deepening Sino-Mauritian friendly relations and strengthening practical cooperation in various fields.

Dr. Renganaden Padayachy underlined that China leads the world in information and communication technology, medical research, biopharmaceutical industry and other fields. Mauritius wishes to learn from China's advanced technology and experience, and enhance cooperation with Chinese companies to promote the development of relevant industries. As a large manufacturing country, China trades with Mauritius and countries on the African continent frequently. Mauritius is willing to utilize its maximum advantages to be a transit hub for China's trade with Africa and thus facilitate China-Africa economic and trade exchanges.

Ambassador Sun Gongyi underscored that China and Mauritius have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation and that China is willing to intensify exchanges and mutual learning with Mauritius in relevant fields. It is expected that the two countries will work jointly to implement the results of the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity Against COVID-19, further deepening cooperation under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and propelling the continuous development of bilateral relations.
