Ambassador Sun Gongyi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade and Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance of Mauritius

On October 14, 2020, Ambassador Sun Gongyi met with Mr. Nandcoomar Bodha, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius and Mr. Mahen Kumar Seeruttun, Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance of Mauritius. The two sides exchanged views on their fight against the pandemic and the strengthening of ties in the post pandemic period in various respects, especially in the financial field.

Mr. Nandcoomar Bodha underscored that the smooth progress of repatriation for overseas Mauritian citizens is inalienable from the assistance provided to Mauritius by the embassies of various countries including the Chinese Embassy. Mauritius expresses sincere gratitude towards China for its help and support for the repatriation work as well as the fight against the pandemic. Mr. Mahen Kumar Seeruttun stated that Mauritius has effectively controlled the pandemic with economic activities being gradually recovered. The Mauritian government is committed to improving the financial system and the financial environment, hoping to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in this field.

For his part, Ambassador Sun Gongyi highlighted that China and Mauritius have always maintained good cooperative relationship and supported each other in the fight against the virus, resulting in strengthened friendship between the two countries. Ambassador Sun Gongyi lauded the series of measures taken by the Mauritian government to strengthen financial supervision, saying that China is willing to work with Mauritius to continue promoting bilateral cooperation in relevant fields.
