On July 8, H.E. Dr. Huang Shifang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Mauritius, met with H.E. Mr. Sanjiv Ranjan, Secretary-General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

Ambassador Huang stated that IORA is an important multilateral cooperation platform in the Indian Ocean region. As a Dialogue Partner State, China has long attached importance to developing friendly cooperation with IORA and stands ready to continue supporting IORA in playing a more active role in regional affairs.

Secretary-General Ranjan expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support for IORA and the work of its Secretariat, and looked forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation with China, so as to make positive contributions to peace, stability and development in the Indian Ocean region.
