Lanting Chinese Calligraphy Cultural Salon was held successfully in Mauritius

On May 12, the Lanting Chinese Calligraphy Cultural Salon was grandly held at the China Cultural Center in Mauritius. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Huang Shifang attended the event together with H.E. Mr Jean Yvan Robert Hungley, G.O.S.K, Vice President of Mauritius, Mr. Aslam Adam Hosenally, the Lord Mayor of Port Louis, and other prominent personalities. 

In her speech, Ambassador Huang Shifang stated that with a history spanning several millennia, Chinese calligraphy is an important carrier of Chinese civilization. She emphasized that Chinese calligraphy is not only an outstanding cultural heritage of China, but also a precious treasure of humanity. As a concrete action to implement President Xi Jinping’s Global Civilization Initiative, she expressed hope that the event would not only enable more Mauritian people to appreciate the beauty of Chinese calligraphy, but also, through that beauty, to gain a deeper understanding of the beauty of Chinese civilization and the diversity of world civilizations.
