Ambassador ZHU Liying meets with Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage of Mauritius

On February 17, 2022, Ambassador ZHU Liying met with Mr Avinash Teeluck, Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage of Mauritius. The two sides exchanged views on deepening China-Mauritius exchanges and cooperation in the field of humanities. Mrs ZHANG Xinhong, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy and Director of Chinese Culture Center, and Dr Luckheenarain, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Culture were present.

Ambassador ZHU said that people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation are an important connotation of bilateral relations. Over the years, thanks to the concerted efforts of the two sides, China-Mauritius cultural cooperation has yielded fruitful results, promoting people-to-people exchanges, mutual understanding and friendship. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritius. We look forward to hosting a series of colorful cultural activities with Mauritius to inject new vitality into the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

Mr. Teeluck thanked China for its support to Mauritius on fighting against COVID-19, and said that China-Mauritius relations have a natural emotional connection. The Chinese culture is an integral part of the diverse culture of Mauritius. China is an important partner for cooperation with Mauritius. It is hoped that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries will further strengthen exchanges, carry out more practical cooperation and write a new chapter for the cultural relations between China and Mauritius.
