Ambassador ZHU Liying Meets with the Mauritian Speaker of Parliament Mr. Phokeer

On January 13, 2022, the Chinese Ambassador to Mauritius ZHU Liying met with the Speaker of the Mauritian National Assembly Mr. Phokeer. The two sides exchanged views on deepening exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries and promoting China-Mauritius cooperation.

Ambassador ZHU extended New Year's greetings to Mr. Phokeer and said that the long-term close exchanges between the legislatures of China and Mauritius have provided an important impetus for the sustainable development of China-Mauritius relations. During the epidemic, the two sides have further intensified contact through online exchanges, laying a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in the post-epidemic period. This year, China and Mauritius will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the legislative bodies of the two countries could carry out various activities under this framework to add luster to bilateral relations.

Mr. Phokeer thanked Ambassador ZHU for his New Year’s wishes and appreciated China’s assistance to the Mauritian Parliament and people, especially the vaccine assistance during the epidemic. He said that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mauritius and China will surely be another milestone in the development of bilateral relations.
