On August 16, 2021, Ambassador Zhu Liying paid a Courtesy Call on Hon. Sudheer Maudhoo, Minister of Blue Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping . The two sides exchanged views on China-Mauritius cooperation in the maritime sector.

Ambassador Zhu said that China and Mauritius have a long history of friendly relationship, and practical cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. With vast sea areas and abundant marine resources, Mauritius has great potential for the development of aquaculture and other industries. The two countries can carry out more pragmatic cooperation in this regard. It is expected that Mauritius will make full use of the effective implementation of the China-Mauritius Free Trade Agreement to become a bridge connecting China and Africa and a platform for China’s cooperation with Africa, and play a greater role in promoting China-Africa relations.

Mr. Maudhoo wellcomed Ambassador Zhu to assume his new post and praised China's economic and social development achievements. He said that China is a maritime country with advanced technology and rich experience. The Mauritian Government is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in the fields of marine scientific research, aquaculture, and port construction, so as to bring more benefits to the people of the two countries.
