At the invitation of the Ministry of Arts and Culture of Mauritius, the delegation led by Mrs.Tie Ning, president of CFLAC, visited Mauritius from 9 to 12, October 2019. During her visit, Mrs.Tie met with Hon. Santi Bai Hanoomanjee, Speaker of the National Assembly of Mauritius, and attended the opening ceremony of the China Film Week 2019, Colored Glaze Artworks Exhibition and Dance Gala Presented by Chinese Top Dancers. These activities were held by China and Mauritius jointly, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, with presence of Chinese Ambassador Sun Gongyi, Cultural Counselor Song Yanqun and wife of Ambassador Madam Wang Ju.
When meeting with Speaker Hanoomanjee, Mrs.Tie said that she was deeply impressed by the beautiful scenery in Mauritius, hospitable Mauritian people as well as the open and diverse cultures in Mauritius. The traditional friendship between China and Mauritius and the continuous cultural exchanges of our two countries play an important role in consolidating and enhancing bilateral relations. No matter big or small, each country has its unique culture, arts can transcend national borders. Culture and arts are the deepest and most enduring forces to eliminate estrangement and communicate the emotions. CFLAC wishes to continue to work together with the Mauritian side to establish a regular two-way exchange mechanism so as to further enhance cultural exchanges and consolidate the foundations of China-Mauritius friendship.
Hanoomanjee said that China and Mauritius share close cultural bonds, and enjoy a long and deep friendship. The Sino-Mauritian community is an important part of the Mauritian society and the Chinese culture constitutes a shining part of the Mauritian culture. China has a long history with a splendid culture. The cultural exchanges between the two countries have never stopped, and should not be handicapped by any problems in the future. She believed that in the fertile multicultural soil of Mauritius, the Chinese culture will surely continue to grow and blossom. The Mauritian side hopes to continue strengthening cultural exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side and further promoting the development of bilateral relations.
The three above-mentioned cultural events were substantially supported and highly commended by the Mauritian people. Among them, the screening of the film "Wandering Earth" at the opening ceremony of the China Film Week was lauded by the audience. A number of excellent Chinese films will also be shown in three cinemas in Mauritius in the following weeks, bringing a visual feast to the Mauritian people. They were amazed at the exquisite and bright-colored glaze artworks during the Colored Glaze Artworks Exhibition. And the dancing performance won thunderous applause by the audience.
