On March 6, 2019, Chinese Ambassador Sun Gongyi met with Mr. Suraj Ray, new president of the Mauritius Council of Social Service (MACOSS) at the Chinese Embassy, exchanging views on exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' civil organizations and the future development plan of the Council.

Established in 1965, MACOSS aims to provide assistance to the development of nearly 400 NGOs in Mauritius, and to facilitate the international exchanges of Mauritian NGOs. Mr. Suraj Ray took office at the end of 2018.
