This is President Hu's first state visit to Spain. During this visit, Hu exchanged in-depth views and reached broad consensus with King Carlos and Prime Minister Zapatero on furthering bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common interest. Both sides declared the establishment of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. This marks that bilateral relations have entered a new development stage.

Besides, Hu visited some Spanish businesses and broadly engaged with Spanish friends from all walks of life. Through this visit, bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership will surely witness better development.

Spain is the third leg of Hu's current tour. Prior to that, Hu has visited the UK and Germany. After concluding the state visit to the ROK, Hu will attend the Leaders' Informal Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to be held in Pusan, ROK.
